Drinks reception served on arrival Floral arrangements in the Library room

The beautiful banqueting rooms of the Clubhouse provide a unique setting for private events and parties at the Army & Navy Club in London. Our experienced Events Team will be able to advise on all aspects relating to your party; from the menus to the wines, entertainment to decorations, cakes and party favours.

Emily Moss, The Army & Navy Club's Events Manager, shares with us her expert advice when it comes to planning the perfect birthday bash. “Allow enough time to secure a suitable date and to provide your guests with a save-the- date notification. Once we’ve secured the date and a theme, we would take care of all the planning and organisation of the event for you.

One of my favourite parties I have organised here at the Club was a 50th birthday party, which was a jovial Spring event. A 5 piece jazz band welcomed guests to the Drawing Room for the welcome drinks, which was a choice of Champagne and Mojito’s. The music provided by the band exuded the style and sophistication of 1930’s Paris. Reception canapés included confit of duck and truffle cream tartlets, chilli crab spring rolls as well as beetroot and chervil tartare served with horseradish cream. When dinner was called, the guests made their way to the Library, which was wonderfully transformed by the flower arrangements adding plenty of colour to the Library. The guests, all seated on one long table in the centre of the Library, enjoyed a four course dinner menu, designed by the Executive Chef, using the freshest seasonal produce. The starter was Carpaccio of beef fillet, followed by a gin and tonic sorbet, and a baked monkfish main course, served with creamed salsify, green beans, pomme purée, lemon and chive sauce. Dessert was a sweet delight in the form of tiramisú terrine with cherry and Armagnac ice cream. Wines chosen by our Food & Beverage Manager prior to the event perfectly matched each course. Coffee and tea with speciality petits fours allowed the guests to linger and enjoy the ambience as the jazz band returned for their final performance during dessert service. Secretly, in the lead up to the event, the guests had arranged a cake for the birthday girl, liaising with our Pastry Chef, Dean Campbell, to create a personalised cake which was then rolled out with candles as the band played her favourite song. At the end of the evening, the guests were happy to know that the bedrooms are merely a few floors up from the 2nd floor, saving many a tricky late night journey across town. The guests all gathered together in the Pall Mall Room for Breakfast the next morning, before saying their goodbyes.

Some ideas may seem trivial, such as place cards and seating plans, however these details may be very useful to have on the day of the event. Also, don't forget to ask your guests if they have any special dietary requirements. "

The Army and Navy Club is a stunning venue for celebrating special anniversaries, Bar Mitzvah’s, engagement parties and christenings with close family and friends.

Informal parties and events are easily arranged, be it a Ladies' Afternoon Tea, Alumnae Dinner, Family Lunch or Birthday reception party.
